Agency Experience: Positive
I was extremely satisfied with the agency's approach to their clients. Everybody was quite professional and always at my disposal when I needed them.
Location: Ogunquit, ME
Location Experience: Positive
The small town of Ogunquit in Maine is full of cafes and restaurants where you can always find a secondary and even a primary job, especially at the beginning of the season. However, even in mid-season, you can always find a place where they might need some help.
Employer: Anchorage by the Sea
Employer Experience: Negative
Even though the Anchorage by the Sea resort is one of the biggest and most known resorts in Ogunqiut, their management in the season of 2016 was quite poor. The resort and the restaurant are really beautiful and both the number of hours and the hourly wages in the restaurant are good, however the tips are much lower compared to other places. I resigned my post in the restaurant after less than a month in the season and managed to find a much better place to work at. I heard that the situation with the tips had improved later on in the season, but my advice to you is not to risk it and to chose a different employer.
Comment: My primary advice for everyone is to apply for this program not knowing what to expect because you never what can happen. You can earn 2000 or 12000 dollars during the work portion of the program. And, if you can, don't apply only because of the money you can earn, apply because of the whole experience which is not only exciting, hideous, amazing and awful, all at the same, it is also life-changing. Oh, and don't to forget to travel as much as you can. Who knows when you will have the chance visit America again?
